    Mission: Nasha Shkola aspires to be a multi-cultural charter school committed to exceptional education in all areas of academic inquiry with an emphasis on Russian Language and Culture, providing structured and responsive learning environment based upon educational best practices for all students and their families.Vision: To be an academically rigorous school preparing students for continued success as motivated learners and global citizens.
  5. Reports
    1. Executive Director Report
        • Current enrollment: 138 students in grades Pre-K – 8.
        • Teacher preparation week included some professional development with
          Progeny Academy.
        • First day of school was on August 26th, 2024.
        • We experienced some bus transportation issues at the start of the school
          year .
        • The school start and end times have changed to 9:20 AM to 3:50 PM.
        • A part-time 3rd grade teacher for ELA and Social Studies has been hired.
        • Director is working with non-licensed staff to obtain licensure.
        • Nasha Shkola is continuing its partnership with Groves for literacy
          instruction and intervention in grades K-4
        • Fall assessments: FastBridge Benchmarking in grades K-3, NWEA, and
          WIDA screening for ELLs.
        • Paul Kinsley will be stepping away from school business dealings due to
          personal reasons until January 2025.
      1. Student achievement FY2024
        North Star Academic achievement is an accountability indicator for the state of
        MN. It measures how Nasha Shkola compares to the state in the areas of math,
        reading, and science. This program has a feature for tracking EL proficiency in
        English. Overall, Nasha Shkola EL students perform better in English Language
        proficiency compared to the state.

        • All students:
          Math 42% (1.1% increase from the 2023)
          Reading 48% (4.3% decrease from 2023)
          Science 45.5% (22% increase from 2023)
        • ELL students:
          Math 37.8% (state 19.4%)
          Reading 35.1% (state 21.7%)
        • FRP students:
          Math 36.4% (state 25.2%)
          Reading 40.9% (state 31.7%)
        • ELL Progress toward English Language Proficiency
          92.5% of NS ELL students make progress toward ELP (state – 46.4%)
          75.6% of NS ELL students meet their ELP target (state – 28.3%)
    2. Financial Report
      • Fund 01
        • As of August 31, 2024 the school has received in Fund 01 a total of
          $216,806 of current Fiscal Year State, Federal, and Local revenues which is
          13% of its current budgeted amount.
        • As of August 31, 2024 the school has expended in Fund 01 $184,255
          which is 11% of its current budgeted expense.
        • Nasha Shkola ended August 2024 with a current fiscal year to date Fund
          01 positive balance (revenues received less expenditures incurred) of
          $32,551.
      • Fund 02
        • As of August 31, 2024 the school has received in Fund 02 a total of $0 of
          current Fiscal Year State, Federal, and Local revenues which is 0% of its
          current budgeted amount.
        • As of August 31, 2024 the school has expended in Fund 02 $62 which is
          0% of its current budgeted expense.
        • Nasha Shkola ended August 2024 with a current fiscal year to date Fund
          02 deficit balance (revenues received less expenditures incurred) of ($62).
      • General notes:
        • Nasha Shkola had a total cash balance of $54,753 at the end of August
          2024 reflected across all funds.
        • Nasha Shkola had a balance of $97,109 in accounts receivable at August
          31, 2024.
        • There was a balance of $121,850 in current liabilities for general accounts
          payable and payroll liabilities at August 31, 2024. A portion of the liability
          is for payroll withholdings on the last day of the month which are not paid
          until the first days of the next month, thus they are reflected on the
          current balance sheet.
        • Nasha Shkola had an overall audited fund balance of $12,524 at June 30,
          2024 for all funds.
        • The Adopted Budget is based on 105 ADM/pupil units. State aid is being
          paid on 105.40 ADM/107 P .U. which includes PK.
    3. FY2024 Audit Report (Justin Nilson, Abdo)
      • Audit Results: no findings
      • General Fund Results:
        • General fund balance took a drop: 0.4% (Fund Balance policy: 15%)
        • General fund expendures continued to climb. Revenues and expenditures
          were consistent with the budget approved.
        • General fund revenues per ADM: lower than the statewide average and
          Region 11. This could also be explained by the low concentration of
          Special Education students in NS.
        • Average Daily Memberships: fairly consistent. Slight increase in FY24.
        • General fund expenditures: consistent except for the Other category
          (Lease settlement)
          Food Service Fund Results:
        • NS had a balanced budget for the food service.
        • Positive revenue over expenditures.

  7. Old Business
    1. School Operations: Transportation Update
      • Initial transportation contract was with Bille Bus. Working with them took
        additional time and effort to get the bus routes set up. There were 9 days of
        service. Significant disruptions included missing stops, arriving late, de-tours, and
        no shows.
      • Contract terminated on September 9th.
      • Nasha Shkola partnered with American Student Transportation with services
        beginning on September 10th.
      • The new bus transportation services have affected the school start and end time
        (9:20 AM and 3:50 PM).
      • Current routes: 4 bus routes, 2 of which are shared with Progeny Academy.

    2. Strategic Plan: setting annual goals
      Stretegic Plan needs to be connected to the annual review and contain measurable
      goals.
    3. Cancellation and closing of savings, debit card, and investment accounts

      Motion to cancel and close the debit card and move the savings and investment money
      accounts into the regular checking account.
