Board of Directors Meeting Minutes: November 15, 2022

  3. Read the Nasha Shkola Mission and Vision
    Mission: Nasha Shkola aspires to be a multi-cultural charter school committed to exceptional education in all areas of academic inquiry with an emphasis on Russian Language and Culture, providing structured and responsive learning environment based upon educational best practices for all students and their families.
    Vision: To be an academically rigorous school preparing students for continued success as motivated learners and global citizens.

      1. Executive Director Report
        • 2 bottle filling stations have been installed.
        • We have hired a plumber to complete minor repairs in the facilities.
          boiler and heating update: the boiler has been functioning successfully. The landlord worked to repair the boiler. In late October, there was an issue with the boiler in which water spilled into the cafeteria. The landlord promptly addressed the issue.
        • We have hired Mariam Dergacheva as our office manager. She is bilingual in Russian and English.
        • Report cards and
        • We have a Reading Corp volunteer. She works with “bubble” readers in younger elementary grades.
        • A Leadership meeting will take place tomorrow. We will discuss using Fund 161 for after school tutoring.
        • We have two visiting scholars from Kazakhstan. This was through our partnership with the University of Minnesota.
        • Our New Year Program will be on Friday, December 16th. We have purchased a sound system and are working with a handyman to build a stage. We will be using the risers for the program as well.
        • A PTO meeting will be held on Friday, November 18th.
        • We have applied for Lease Aid.
        • The Annual Report draft has been completed. It needs to be reported to the state by December 1st.
        • The STAR report is completed.
        • The World Best Work Force report is in the final stages of completion.
      2. Financial Report – October 2022
        1. Fund 01
          • As of October 31, 2022 the school has received in Fund 01 a total of $439,822 of current Fiscal Year State, Federal, and Local revenues which is 23% of its current budgeted amount.
          • As of October 31, 2022 the school has expended in Fund 01 $542,139 which is 28% of its current budgeted expense.
          • Nasha Shkola ended October 2022 with a current fiscal year to date Fund 01 deficit balance (revenues received less expenditures incurred) of ($102,317).
        2. Fund 02
          • As of October 31, 2022 the school has received in Fund 02 a total of $685 of current Fiscal Year State, Federal, and Local revenues which is 1% of its current budgeted amount.
          • As of October 31, 2022 the school has expended in Fund 02 $16,828 which is 25% of its current budgeted expense.
          • Nasha Shkola ended October 2022 with a current fiscal year to date Fund 02 deficit balance (revenues received less expenditures incurred) of ($16,143).
        3. Overview-Balance Sheet
          • Nasha Shkola Charter School had a total cash balance of $376,457 at the end of October 2022 reflected across all funds.
          • Nasha Shkola had a balance of $6,264 in accounts receivable at October 31, 2022.
          • There was a balance of $40,792 in current liabilities for general accounts payable and payroll liabilities at October 31, 2022. A portion of the liability is for payroll withholdings on the last day of the month which are not paid until the first days of the next month, thus they are reflected on the current balance sheet.
          • Nasha Shkola had an overall audited fund balance of $505,979 at June 30, 2022 which includes its investments in fixed assets.
          • The Adopted Budget Approved is based on 130 ADM or 135 pupil units. State aid is being paid on 135 ADM or 141 Pupil Unit.

      • TenSquare provides comprehensive real estate options for charter schools.
      • We need to create an Affiliated Building Corporation before we can work with TenSquare.
      • We would need to hire a lawyer to set up the corporation.
      • There is a $6,000 flat fee for lawyer services.
