  3. Read the Nasha Shkola Mission and Vision
    Vision:
    To be an academically rigorous school preparing students for continued success as motivated learners and global citizens.
    Mission: Nasha Shkola aspires to be a multi-cultural charter school committed to exceptional education in all areas of academic inquiry with an emphasis on Russian Language and Culture, providing structured and responsive learning environment based upon educational best practices for all students and their families.

    1. Executive Director report
      1. School update
        • Enrollment:
          • After winter break, we gained one more 6th grade student.
        • Operations
          • After winter break, we had two days in Distance Learning due to staff shortages. The staff shortages were due to staff vacations and COVID quarantine.
          • We have had a few teachers in COVID quarantine the week following winter break. During this time, the teacher connected remotely to teach their classes. We continued with in-person learning for most classes.
        • Student achievement:
          • We started the Winter NWEA testing.
        • Employment/staff update:
          • A full-time ELL para has been hired.
          • We are continuing to look for a Special Education para and a Kindergarten teacher.

      1. Monthly Finance Report – December 2021
        • Fund 01
          • As of December 31, 2021 the school received in Fund 01 a total of $752,685 which is 50% of its current budgeted amount.
          • As of December 31, 2021 the school expended in Fund 01 $727,787 which is 49% of its current budgeted expense.
          • Nasha Shkola Charter School ended December 2021 with a current fiscal year to date Fund 01 positive balance (revenues received less expenditures incurred) of $24,899.
        • Fund 02
          • As of December 31, 2021 the school has received in Fund 02 a total of $22,238 which is 57% of its current budgeted amount.
          • As of December 31, 2021 the school has expended in Fund 02 $28,183 which is 73% of its current budgeted expense.
          • Nasha Shkola Charter School ended December 2021 with a current fiscal year to date Fund 02 deficit balance (revenues received less expenditures incurred) of ($5,945).
        • Nasha Shkola Charter School had a total cash balance of $299,056 at the end of December 2021 reflected across all funds.
        • Nasha Shkola Charter School had a balance of $4,972 in accounts receivable at December 31, 2021.
        • The school had an overall audited fund balance of $278,559 at June 30, 2021 which includes its investments in fixed assets.

    1. NS Health & Safety Plan – monthly update
      • Updated Quarantine and Isolation guidance (shortened quarantine and isolation under certain circumstances, including strict adherence to masking)
    2. Prekindergarten approval
      • We have been approved for a Pre-Kindergarten for the school year of 2022-2023.
      • The next step is budget planning and curriculum alignment.
    3. School relocation/Lease 22-23 – follow up
      • The relocation committee met on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 and decided to submit proposals to the two school location possibilities.
      • An additional committee meeting will be scheduled after we receive more information / an update from the locations.

    1. IQS-NSCS Contract amendment (to add the preK into authorized grades)

  9. Other
    1. A case of vandalism at school
      • We had some instances of vandalism amongst middle school students.
      • In the case of vandalism, students will serve in-school suspension.
      • In future cases, parent(s) may be called to observe their child’s behavior for the duration of a school day.
      • The board will start looking into a policy addendum to support this change.
    2. Recruiting new board members
      • We are looking to add more members to the board.

The Nasha Shkola Board meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM. 
The Finance Committee meets at 5:30 prior to the board meeting.
