  3. Read the Nasha Shkola Mission and Vision
    Vision:
    To be an academically rigorous school preparing students for continued success as motivated learners and global citizens.
    Mission: Nasha Shkola aspires to be a multi-cultural charter school committed to exceptional education in all areas of academic inquiry with an emphasis on Russian Language and Culture, providing structured and responsive learning environment based upon educational best practices for all students and their families.

      1. School update
        • Enrollment:
          • Enrollment has been steady with 3 new students joining the school next Tuesday, February 22nd.
        • Operations
          • Operations have been stable. Most grades have continued to have in-person learning.
        • Student achievement:
          • Winter NWEA tests are almost complete.
          • The ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners has started. It will take about a month to complete.
        • Employment/staff update:
          • We are continuing to search for a Kindergarten/elementary teacher and a Special Education para.
    2. Financial Report
      1. Monthly Finance Report – January 2022
        • Nasha Shkola Charter School had a total cash balance of $296,301 at the end of January 2022 reflected across all funds.
        • Nasha Shkola Charter School had a balance of $4,897 in accounts receivable on January 31, 2022.
        • There was a balance of $73,083 in current liabilities for general accounts payable and payroll liabilities on January 31, 2022.
        • Nasha Shkola Charter School had an overall audited fund balance of $278,559 at June 30, 2021 which includes its investments in fixed assets.
        • Fund 01
          • As of January 31, 2022 the school has received in Fund 01 a total of $869,261 of Current Fiscal Year State, Federal, and Local revenues which is 58% of its current budgeted amount.
          • As of January 31st, 2022 the school has expended in Fund 01 $861,467 which is 58% of its current budgeted expense.
          • Nasha Shkola Charter School ended January 2022 with a current fiscal year to date Fund 01 positive balance of $7,795.
        • Fund 02
          • As of January 31, 2022 the school has received in Fund 02 a total of $28,030 of current Fiscal Year State, Federal, and Local revenues which is 72% of its current budgeted amount.
          • As of January 31, 2022 the school has expended in Fund 02 $34,323 which is 89% of its current budgeted expense.
          • Nasha Shkola Charter School ended January 2022 with a current fiscal year to date Fund 02 deficit balance of ($6,293).

  7. Old Business
    1. NS Health & Safety Plan – monthly update
      • We went back to wearing masks being “highly recommended.”
      • Staff who needed to quarantine due to COVID have been able to teach online.
      • 3rd grade was in quarantine the week of February 7th.
    2. Future development of school programs and programming needs
      • Prekindergarten
        • The application for funding Prekindergarten has been submitted. Upon approval, we would qualify for state funding
        • We would be approved for 5.6 ADM based on this year’s Kindergarten Free and Reduced Lunch population.
        • An option would be to fund the Prekindergarten with a combination of state funding, general fund, and fees.
      • Gifted & Talented
        • We are looking into different avenues to start this program next school year.
        • We are looking for project-based enrichment opportunities.
        • ESSER funds and/or general funds may need to cover the costs for the Gifted & Talented program.
      • Learning Recovery: Summer program & Afterschool tutoring
        • ESSER funds are for learning recovery and will be used for the summer program and after-school tutoring.
        • The summer program would be an “academic camp.”
        • After-school tutoring is aimed for students who need additional academic support who do not receive one-on-one interventions at school, are not in Child Find, and/or may not have adequate English support at home.
        • We are looking to use state-developed resources for social and emotional training as well as additional resources that would be covered by ESSER funds.
    3. School relocation/Lease 22-23 – follow up
      • A proposal to the Golden Valley school location at St. Margaret’s has been submitted.
      • The building needs to pass a fire inspection prior to contact signing.
    4. Board self-evaluation (mid year)
      • The board self-evaluation forms will be sent to board members via Google Forms. To be completed prior to March meeting.

    1. Recruiting new board members
      • Marisol Serdiouk will not be running as a parent-board member next year.

The Nasha Shkola Board meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM. 
The Finance Committee meets at 5:30 prior to the board meeting.
