  4. Reports
    1. Reports
      1. Executive Director Report
        • We completed the letter of inspection which was required by our lawyers for finalizing the lease breaches. The landlord has refused to complete repairs, therefore, the school will assume some of those responsibilities to improve the conditions.
        • Some heating issues occurred in the building, and the repairs were completed by the landlord. However, there are a few more issues that continue to persist i.e. some rooms get too cold, some get too warm, and overall, it is difficult to control the room temperatures in those classrooms.
        • The landlord will complete window repairs on 12/22/22.
        • We had a New Year’s program last week. The feedback from the community was positive overall with the exception of a song that was performed called “Russian Father Frost.” Some parents expressed concern about that song to the director. The director sent a response letter of acknowledgement and apology to the school community.
        • On Sunday 12/18/22, we had a community program/event for younger Russian-speaking students. We were able to promote the school during that time.
        • We will use Esser Funding to offer After School Tutoring to students after the winter break.
        • We are working on a contract renewal with IQS. We were initially authorized to be a K-12 school, some time over the years, the school became a K-8. We contacted our authorizer regarding this issue and were told that our current contract can be amended to reflect the K-12 change. We can do a “fast-track” and have the school’s contract reflect the “preK-12” change. We can also choose to wait and have it reflected in the next contract.

After the Executive Director Report, a discussion regarding the New Year program and parents’ concerns was brought up by Alexej Abyzov. The director defended her position about the email that she sent to acknowledge parents’ feelings regarding a song called “Rossiskii Father Frost.” Alexej brought up that other parents were also upset. The director responded that if additional parents are upset, they need to communicate to her directly.
