Executive Director report: Health and safety report
State & County Data: Sharp increase of COVID-19 cases across the state and specifically in Hennepin and Anoka counties where the majority of our school population resides
Nasha Shkola:
Currently:
13 students in quarantine (close contact with outside source)
5 students with respiratory symptoms
4 staff were absent today (2 with low risk respiratory symptoms)
State guidance: What situations may necessitate a transition to a hybrid learning model?
The number of students and school staff who are absent or who are sent home with influenza- or COVID-19-like illness reaches approximately 5% of the total number of students and staff in a school within a single week.
Since the beginning of the school year: total 19 students quarantined
Shortage of staff (we are not able to substitute)
Despite the warning, many families continue visiting places of gathering (like churches and public events) and taking out of state vacations. This increases students’ exposure to COVID-19 and could spread the virus to others upon returning to their home/school community.
Mask-wearing still presents a problem since many students wear masks that don’t fit properly or do not cover their noses with masks. School staff provide new masks to students and constantly monitor proper mask-wearing.
Not all families notify the school about their sickness, possible exposure to COVID-19 or even positive diagnosis. This threatens the health and safety of our students and staff.
