About Yelena (Viktorovna) Borisova Hardcopf

What I love about Nasha Shkola…

… I especially value our professional and caring teachers and staff.  Their hard work and dedication make Nasha a great place for students and families.  They convey passion and enthusiasm for the subjects they teach, create welcoming environment, and encourage high academic performance.

I love the cultural aspect of our school.  It allows us to bring the rich and amazing world of Russian culture to our students and build cross-cultural awareness and understanding.  Here, our bilingual students have a unique opportunity to preserve their language and heritage.

I also appreciate the size of our school that allows us to support and nurture our students on individual level from their first days in kindergarten to the 8th grade.  I take pride in the progress of all our students – from our high achievers to those who worked hard and achieved beyond their expectations.  I marvel at their artistic performance during school concerts and events.

I feel deep gratitude to our most dedicated parents for their continuing support and engagement.

And I do believe in the future for Nasha Shkola.  By working together we will reach our full potential.

For me, fun is…

… reading, traveling, taking pictures, spending time with my family and friends, and … creating and sewing traditional Slavic and Russian costumes for our school shows and events.

Dear Parents of Nasha Shkola Students,

We have had a busy summer with preparing for the upcoming school year.  In 4 weeks, Nasha Shkola  will begin a new school year.  Academic excellence is a goal of our  community. We want every child at every level to excel, and we work hard to deliver on that promise. Here is a brief recap of different ways we will work toward improved student achievement this year:

  • Curriculum alignment: during this school year teachers of Nasha Shkola will continue working on aligning academic curriculum (Core Knowledge, Singapore Math,  Russian Studies) , the State standards, instruction, and assessment.   This is done across and within all grades and all subjects.
  • Formative Assessment: The teaching staff will continue implementation of Formative Assessment process .  The goal of Formative Assessment is to monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can be used by instructors to improve their teaching and by students to improve their learning.  During the last year, great efforts were made in the area of implementing Learning Targets and Criteria for Success in daily lesson instruction.  Learning Targets are concrete and clear content objectives that identify what students should know and be able to do in a given lesson.  This year teachers will work on providing many opportunities for feedback that allows students to close any gaps between their understanding and the success criteria

Support staff and Teacher-Specialists

  • EL teacher and EL paraprofessional will provide ongoing support in the classroom and one-on-one/small group setting.
  • Learning Specialist will support students and families on their journey through learning accommodations and differentiation (Special Education Specialists & Child Find Team)

3 teaching paraprofessionals will provide one-on-one/small group help to students to support learning in the area of reading and math.
